“He rarely went abroad by daylight, but at twilight he would go out muffled up invisibly, whether the weather were cold or not, and he chose the loneliest paths and those most over-shadowed by trees and banks.” - H.G. Wells
“Everything was ruddy, shadowy, and indistinct to her, the more so since she had just been lighting the bar lamp, and her eyes were drazzled. but for a second it seemed to her that the man she looked at had an enormous mouth wide open,-a vast and incredible mouth that swallowed the whole of the lower portion of his face.” - H.G. Wells
“A feeling of extraordinary elation took the place of my anger as I sat outside the window and watched these four people...trying to understand the riddle of my behavior....I was invisible, and I was only just beginning to
realize the extraordinary advantage my invisibility gave me. My head was already teeming with plans of all the wild and wonderful things I had now impunity to do.” - H.G. Wells
What others think:
"Reading The Invisible Man is a depressing experience." - Josh Lacey
"Slow beginning. But by the end, man, I was hooked." - Becky
"Seeing is Believing" - Miller Stevens
"The solitary outcast has no lasting power" - Martin Asiner "Adjunct College Instructor"
Why i chose what i chose:
Quote one: I chose this quote because it shows irony in how Griffin's mind works. Because he himself is invisible and at this time he has chosen the certain paths that conceal people that best. But he himself is already concealed so there is no need for his hiding in the shadows. It also shows that his invisibility is not a gift but a great burden weighing on his shoulders.
Quote two: I chose this quote because it shows that no matter what is going on Griffin is never safe to show his true identity at any time because at any moment it is possible for him to be exposed to the public. He has to hide himself at all times and his life is one big secret. He can never live the same as he once did.
Quote three: I chose this quote because it shows that Griffin is slowly slipping into temptation and the darker side of his "gift". He is giving into his worse side and letting his obsession with all the bad he can now get away with overwhelm him. He thinks that this is the best way to live out his curse.
Video one: This video is for a movie that is similiar to this book. I don't know if it is based on the same premice but it is very alike in many ways. The main character is a scientist who is working on a formula for invisibility. They think that they cracked it so they test it on him as the first human subject. He complies with everything to a point until he escapes to the city and wreaks havoc.
Video two: This video is an actual trailer based off of the book written by H.G. Wells. It was made a long time ago but it is very accurate as to what happens in the book. It is an excellent film and deserves all the praise it has recieved. It is as close to reading the book you can get without reading the book. ;)
